What nickel adds to stainless steel An invited talk “What Nickel adds to Stainless Steel” was given by the NI’s Peter Cutler at the 5th Stainless Steel Congress in Brno, Czech Republic on 8 April 2009. It covered the reasons why nickel remains such an important alloying element in stainless steels. In 2008, around 60% of all the stainless steel produced were nickel-containing austenitic grades. Key factors are its contribution to ductility, fabricability, versatility and durability. The presentation can be viewed here
