New head of Tornio Works

Hannu Hautala has been appointed Senior Vice President - Tornio Works as of May 2, 2010 at the latest. He will report to CEO Juha Rantanen and will succeed Mr. Pekka Erkkilä who has been temporarily responsible for Tornio Works since September 15, 2009. Mr. Hautala will be based in Tornio, Finland.

Mr. Hautala is a Finnish citizen, born 1965 and holds a Master of Science in Engineering and Industrial Economics from the University of Oulu. His latest responsibility is managing Elcoteq's Communications Network's global operations with business units in five different countries. His earlier positions include Managing Director for Elcoteq Hungary Ltd., General Manager for Flextronics' businesses in Finland and senior management roles for Rautaruukki in Germany and in Raahe, Finland.

The Tornio Works business unit includes the steel and ferrochrome production in Tornio, the chrome mine in Kemi and a processing centre in Terneuzen, the Netherlands.

CEO Juha Rantanen: "I am pleased to welcome Hannu to this demanding position as the head of our biggest business unit. During his career, Hannu has managed plants with several thousands of employees, has international experience and has spent a big part of his career in the steel industry. He has experience, which we can directly benefit from and I am confident that, together with the Tornio team, they can build our capabilities to meet the needs of our customers."

As announced earlier Mr. Pekka Erkkilä is leaving Outokumpu on May 1, 2010 at the latest. His other duties will be shared among the existing Executive Committee members. CEO Juha Rantanen will take over the responsibility for Outokumpu's energy strategy. Deputy CEO Karri Kaitue will be responsible for environment, heath and quality. EVP - Supply Chain Management Jamie Allan will take over the responsibility for safety and energy procurement and EVP - Specialty Stainless Bo Annvik for the Long Products business unit and R&D.
